A Constitution Bench standardised the addition for future prospects in motor-accident compensation at 40% of income for the deceased/injured below 40 years, 25% between 40 and 50, and 10% between 50 and 60, extended the addition to self-employed and fixed-income earners, and clarified the deductions and multiplier method to be used in computing "just compensation", to the extent it modified the position in Reshma Kumari.
